SofaBaton X2

What it does

• Replaces a pile of TV, soundbar, and streamer remotes
• Runs one-touch activities from the 2.4-inch touchscreen
• Reaches gear in a cabinet through the hub and two wired IR transmitters
• Sits in the charging dock between uses

The remote you receive

This listing is the SofaBaton X2 with the hub and the charging dock. The remote-only listing and the kit that adds the R1 infrared repeater are different products. The R1 is optional and is not in this box.

The remote has a 2.4-inch touchscreen, physical buttons, and its own IR emitter. The hub covers the room with IR, and the two wired transmitters reach components that sit out of sight. SofaBaton states a hub IR range of up to 40 feet. Control also includes Bluetooth, RF, and Wi-Fi, including local IP control, plus Home Assistant. Alexa and Google Assistant are part of SofaBaton’s stated setup. The package list for this kit is the remote, the charging dock, the hub with two wired IR transmitters, and the user manual.

Setup is in the SofaBaton app, and the app asks you to register an account. Activities take some time to tune, including short delays so a TV or receiver can finish one command before the next. This shop found no monthly fee for the remote.
